CAT4 : The CAT4 cognitive ability test
เป็นระบบการสอบหนึ่ง ที่ใช้ในการสอบเข้าโรงเรียนชั้นนำหลายๆ โรงเรียนใน UK รวมถึงโรงเรียนอินเตอร์อันดับต้นๆ ในไทยบางโรงเรียนอีกด้วยค่ะ
CAT4 ใช้กับนักเรียนอายุตั้งแต่ 6-17 ปี แบ่งเป็น 4 พาร์ท ได้แก่
Quantitative Reasoning : วัดทักษะเกี่ยวกับคณิตศาสตร์ โดยโจทย์จะกำหนดชุดตัวเลขหรือการคำนวณมาให้
Verbal Reasoning : วัดทักษะเกี่ยวกับความสามารถในการเข้าใจข้อความและเชื่อมโยงแนวคิดของคำศัพท์
Non-Verbal Reasoning : วัดทักษะเกี่ยวกับการแก้ปัญหาจากรูปทรง รูปภาพรูปแบบแผนภาพ โดยโจทย์จะไม่มีคำ
ศัพท์หรือตัวเลขให้
Spatial Awareness : โจทย์จะกำหนดรูปทรง/รูปภาพให้ โดยต้องบ่งบอกลำดับหรือกฏจากโจทย์ให้ได้
3 sections ในการสอบ CAT4
ผู้สอบจะต้องตอบคำถามทั้ง 4 พาร์ท ที่จะรวมอยู่ในข้อสอบทั้ง 3 Sections ได้แก่ Figure classification, Verbal classification และ Number series
Part 1: Figure-Based Questions
พาร์ทนี้จะแยกออกเป็นส่วนของ figure classification และ figure matrices ซึ่งผู้สอบจะต้องใช้ทักษะความรู้ในส่วนของ Non-Verbal Reasoning และ Spatial Awareness

Part 2: Verbal-Based Questions
ในพาร์ทนี้ผู้สอบจะต้องใช้ทักษะความรู้ในส่วนของ verbal classification, verbal analogies and number analogies.

Part 3: Number-Based Questions
พาร์ทสุดท้าย ผู้สอบจะต้องใช้ทักษะความรู้ในส่วนของ number series, figure analysis และ figure recognition ซึ่งจะเป็นส่วนเกี่ยวกับการให้เหตุผลเชิงปริมาณ ระบุรูปแบบและกฎตามลำดับของตัวเลข โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องมีความรู้เชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับสูตร แต่ต้องรู้วิธีอ่านกราฟและกฎทางคณิตศาสตร์พื้นฐาน
ส่วนนี้มักจะเป็นส่วนที่ยาวที่สุดของการทดสอบ CAT4

แต่ละ section จะให้เวลาในการตอบ 45 นาที และจะใช้เวลาทั้งหมด 2 ชั่วโมง 15 นาที โดยจะมีเวลาเบรคสำหรับแต่ละ section ให้ค่ะ
ซึ่งถือว่าเวลาในการสอบค่อนข้างกระชั้นชิด เพื่อเป็นการวัดความถนัดในแต่ละทักษะของน้องๆ นั่นเองค่ะ เพราะฉะนั้นจึงควรทำความเข้าใจในลักษณะของข้อสอบเพื่อเตรียมตัวก่อนสอบจริงค่ะ
